01:21 pm - zomg post?
Happy Birthday [info]luminati! Hope its as nice a day down there as it is here in Massachussetts. Feel better. :D

In other news, I can't recall the last time I posted on this >.< For some reason though I checked it today and figured I would post huh. Umm...classes are good (read:hard). My classical mechanics tutorial is crazy awesome. We are studying stuff like chaos and the Lagrangian and the Hamiltonian(well, this guy not till later) and stuff! Chaos is pretty amazing. Otherwise, my quantum class is rather boring, my groups and characters class (abstract algebra more or less) is interesting but abstract (gasp!) and my music cultures of the world class is ummm...well...yeah. I've been playing lots of squash, which is fun, may join the JV team and see what happens. Haven't been playing much tennis of late though :(. Anyways, best be getting to work; tutorial session is this afternoon, although I've pretty much finished the problem set so it will be fun.

04:36 pm - Color Quiz
The second part of this quiz seemed ridiculous (why wouldn't I pick the same colors twice?) Even so, I choice more randomly the 2nd time and it didn't seem to resond with ridiculous assertions.

09:13 pm - Happy Halloween!
Woo. Go Halloween. I hope everyone is enjoying it at least bit. It was  actually a nice day today, so that definitely helped. Plus with Daylight Savings time, it got dark early, helping the effect.

Anyways, back to work.

Happy (belated) Birthday, Megan! I hope you had a great one. You know, full of stuff. Fun stuff.

It seems that there are a lot of birthdays going on these days. All for the better, I say.

Happy Birthday, [info]luminati!

I was going to send you something, but I figured you'd have little need for a large black thing with which to cover up unsightly snakes. :P

Seriously though, relax and have fun. Take some time off from studying and enjoy being (insert age here that is younger than me, it really doesn't matter what number- :P).

Or buy some cigarettes. I don't know why you would want to do that, but I suppose that given a certain inclination you could certainly do so.

08:20 pm - Today on Rush Limbaugh...
Straight from the horse's mouth: Militant environmental groups like Sierra Club are crazy, and nuclear weapons don't have a  significant impact on the environment.

And that's what I heard just from turning on the radio  between turning onto Columbia Road from my house and parking in the Giant parking lot (without stopping too). This was also what he was talking about in the midst of a discussion about Hurricane Katrina efforts...because...ummm...its relevant?

Need I say wtf?

No, but I'll say it anyways. wtf?

I mean... I know that all of these talk shows are politically skewed, but this is ridiculous. There's no need for blatant(and random) outbursts of incoherency in the midst of a national talk show discussing an ongoing natural disaster entirely unrelated to any of this.

Sorry about that, but it just seemed so stupid I had to write it down somewhere as a reminder to myself of the gross stupidity found across the political landscape.

That said, I feel quite bad about the Katrina situation. Fortunately I don't have family in the area, but its still frustrating that we knew about the destructive capabilities of this storm and still weren't prepared, albeit millions did evacuate.

I head back to school on Saturday. I'm stopping by my brother's apartment in Jersey on Saturday, then moving back in to Massachussetts on Sunday. Classes this semester include the oh so exciting Electricity and Magnetism (at least this one will use diff eq and such), Linear Algebra(another exciting class...-_-), Philosophy of Science (This I am excited about), and Art History(supposed to be lots of work and memorization but really good so I suppose it will be interesting). Its a year long course though, meaning that I take 101 this semester and 102 next semester, which takes up space in my schedule, but I would have had to take some kind of art related class at some point, and its better than taking a language.

I've been reviewing my calc stuff from high school by doing ap tests that I did before and stuff. Most of it is easy, but there is the occasional randomness where I'm like "Oh crap, how do I approximate 64^(1/3) using a series and then find the remainder after 3 terms..." Hopefully I won't need to really know some of this stuff for the purpose fo t.a.ing an entry level Calc class, but I don't know yet so I'm gonna do some of it anyways I guess.

Bleach 47 good. The series has so far yet to dissapoint since the story and pace are driven less by the whole Dragonball type train-and-fight thing and more by crazyness plus Urahara.

12:15 am - Um, ButtTech called, and now you work for them. On butts.
And that is a classic for the ages.

Summer has been pretty good. I've been painting/cleaning a lot. I redid the basement and such(we have new carpet now! Plus a new coach soon). Soon I'll be doing the hallway on the first floor. Painting is kind of fun, although cleanup/setup needed for it sucks.

I don't go back to school until like the 8th of September, though I'll be moving in the prior weekend. I'm not nervous about going back to school, in fact I'm more or less excited(yay, another class in electricity and magnetism) I just feel like I should be doing more to prepare. Especially since I'll be a t.a. for a calculus class. Yeah, it might just be calc 1, but I think I'll end up meticulously combing through my calc notes and doing problems and such.

In the meantime, I haven't been playing any tennis at all. Kind of sad, but I am seemingly satisfied with runnign and lifting for now. I do miss it though.

Bleach is good, both manga and anime. Honey and Clover is also pretty good, albeit of an entirely different nature than the few animes I've seen. Last Exile is now on G4 too, so I might check it out. I saw a little over one episode, and it certainly seemed promising, even though I had no idea what was going on. The dubbing wasn't terrible though(read FMA which I still don't like the dubbing for) but I never heard the original audio so I can't compare.

That's about it. Going up to Jersey soon to help my brother move in to his new apartment(he graduated this spring and will be working in Jersey as a mechanical engineer). I'm excited for him, he should enjoy having an engineering job and living close(r) to his girlfriend and such.

Oh, and happy birthday to me.

Maybe I'll write some other time about the other thing occupying some of my time: Bleach. I have to say that the anime is pretty awesome, and having read a bit of the manga, its good too.

09:19 pm - Songs
Six Current Favorite Songs Meme:
Name your six current favorite songs and tag six other people to do the same.

1. Millencolin-No Cigar
I heard this song several years back and loved it, but I wasn't sure who it was by and never really listened to it much. But after listening to it some more I find that its just as good as I remember.

2. Interpol- Evil
This song has just been stuck in my head on and off for quite some time. I like every part of it.

3. Coldplay- Square One
One of the stronger songs on their new cd, the chorus is great.

4. Coldplay- Speed of Sound
The single from their new cd. Sure it's evocative of Clocks, with the sweeping piano movement and what not, but its still fresh and immediately enchanting.

5. The Strokes- Last Nite
I skipped out on the whole Strokes thing a few years back, but I started listening to a little bit of late. This song is just really energetic and catchy.

6. Carbon Leaf- Desperation Song
Dammit [info]luminati, now I have this song stuck in my head.

Rather than favorite, lets just say that these are six songs that I currently like a lot. Because it would take me way too long to figure out my all-time favorite song. Its probably a Coldplay song, though, heh. Although there are plenty that aren't that could be up there.

I'd say I'm not doing too badly. You can't go wrong with [info]prezjamo arguing on your behalf and [info]luminati performing some kind of pagan ritutal. The only thing I'd be worried about is [info]kaiichim crashing the ferry, sending me spiraling into some special kind of eternal doom.

09:20 pm - Come Sail Away
Well, I'm pretty tired. I've had about 8-9 hours of sleep total over the past couple of days. That said, Spring Break started today. I left Williamstown this morning. I'm off until April 3rd. I love two week Spring Breaks!

Anyways, classes are going well. Math (discrete tutorial) and physics (math methods for scientists- basically diff eq, only with all the stuff you never want to work with, like series, complex numbers, and series of complex numbers) are hard but fun. Philosophy (logic) is pretty awesome, and macroecon is kind of boring and annoying, especially when its responsible for you staying up to 4am to finish a problem set due the day before Spring Break even though class is cancelled and we just had a test. Stupid econ.

Classes aside though, school is fun. Tennis starts up again after Spring Break. I haven't played since the fall, and I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to regular practices. I'm still excited to play, but I'd probably rather run and lift a lot at my own leisure, which is what I've been doing. Still, tennis is a lot of fun. I suppose I shouldn't just give it up so easily. Plus I'm better at tennis than I am at lifting.

I would say more, but I seem to be at a loss for words. Or, well, I just can't find anything to say right now. Maybe I'll write more later. To those of you who have Spring Breaks upcoming, have fun on them.

12:05 am - Snow!
So....it snowed today for several hours.

I like snow.

That is all.

Well, maybe it isn't. I'm obliged to complain about how cold it gets here, despite the fact that it (seemingly) snows a lot. So, let's just say that on Tuesday morning around 8:15, the wind chill was 18 (Farenheit), and the temp was 23. It did not make waking to class fun. It's since then been in the 30s basically all week.

Also, Fight Club is a pretty good movie. Halo 2 is a lot of fun. Ummm...political science papers suck.

09:01 pm - It's sad but true. And pretty funny. (The picture I mean)

I think this pretty much says it all.

Oh, and in Poly Sci, we we're discussing the election, and I said (quite facetiously at that), "I was surprised by how many people in America hate gay people more so than they love Social Security, etc." Now, while I was joking for the most part, I was also trying to make the point that pure social and moral values outweighed economic issues in the eyes of most people during the election.

But I guess some people took my comment a little too seriously. And after one or two more people spoke, this guy said, "Well, I'm a Republican, and I find it a little insulted that Democrats think we hate gay people. It's just that according to my religion, they shouldn't be married."

And after that, this other kid, who identified himself as a democrat, says, "See, you know, this is the problem; there are all these democrats who think that all Republicans hate gay people---this is why we can't win elections, the very liberal people are out of touch with the rest of society" (or something along those lines).

At this point I'm just laughing(silently of course). I mean, I was being facetious! The professor got it. At least some of the people got it. It was just one of those stupid/funny things that happens I suppose. Long story short, I can only assume that half the class now thinks of me as "that liberal who thinks that all Republicans hate gay people." Oh well, I don't really care. I just thought it was kind of funny the way it happened.

Anyways, really though, I do think there is a problem in this country with conservatives hating gay people. Obviously not all conservatives hate gay people, but there's clearly something wrong when so many people will, through either their actions or through words, basically say, "I don't hate gay people, I just don't think they should have the same rights as everyone else." I mean, c'mon, that's the exact same way people treated African Americans, Jewish people, the Chinese, Japenese, Native Americans (and the list goes on) since this country was created.

01:15 pm - Sometimes I wonder
This really sucks. In all fairness though, the Republicans ran a better campaign. The Democrats are shitty politicians these days, and can't seem to decide whether they want to move to the left or to the right. My guess is it will take a Southern, somewhat conservative, Democrat to win the whitehouse.

A word of warning to females: Don't get pregnant unless you know you don't want an abortion and you're willing to die if things go wrong and you can't get one, because it's looking like they might be made illegal. It's too soon to tell on the national scale though.

The gay marriage thing is ridiculous too. I won't go into it much because there are too many things that are blatantly wrong about it, but basically any gay marriage ban on any level is in my eyes unconstitutional due to the rulings in Brown v. Board of Ed.

The only thing that really frustrates me is that it all comes down to politics(which I despise) instead of capacity/ability. And Republicans excel at manipulating frightened, God-fearing people with lies and deceit. (And probably a dirty pool.)

02:06 am - Sox win!!!!!!!!!!
Red Sox!!!!!!! Yankees lose!!!!! Historic comeback!!!! Historic collapse!!!!!

This is unbelievable. The Red Sox have finally topped the Evil Empire; good has triumphed in the most impressive and exciting way possible. I don't know what to do. This is just awesome. Curt Schilling and Derek Lowe were amazing. Schilling, for those of you who don't know, threw 7 innings and gave up one earned run to get the win. However, the tendon in his ankle was actually torn, and they stitched it up and bolted it together, and gave him specialized high top shoes. You could see the blood seeping through his socks while he pitched. That's just all heart there. All heart.

02:40 am - The Two Towers (Extended Edition!)
I watched the first part of the Extended Edition last night. I just finished watching the 2nd part a little earlier. Let me just say: it rules. It's definitely the best of the three. I guess I'll have to wait for the extended edition of Return of the King, but I doubt it will match this. I've watch Two Towers like 7 times, and it's better every time. It's just that good. And not only because it's good on its own, but also because the book provides such a vauge frame for a complete movie. And yet it makes the transition nearly seamlessly. I like the extended edition a lot because it's not so harsh in its portrayal of Faramir, which I still view to be the greatest deficiency in the movies. Yet, in the 2nd one, it really works as far as the movie goes. And that says something.

Anyways, that was really random, but I figured I should say it. Go Two Towers.

Also, reading period rules. Yay no class Monday and Tuesday. Boo poly sci paper due Thursday, econ test Thursday, and physics test next Monday. Oh well, it's getting done. Yay Two Towers.
